Custom Built

We specialise in custom solid timber furniture and use a variety of timber products.

Wood is an environmentally friendly option as it stores carbon dioxide so using it is not only practical and beautiful but it helps to save the planet.

Some of the timber products that we have used are:

·         American Ash – this is a hardwood with a distinctive grain and is particularly suited to table tops and breaksfast bars, add image

·         Mahogany – this is a finer grained wood and looks great as desks or wall units, add image of desk

·         Rimu, another finer grained wood, during the 1940’s this timber was used for framing in state built housing and not considered good enough for furniture.  It is a beautiful wood and we have used for floating shelves and wall units.

·         Oak, another hard wood and is ideally suited for beds and headboards. Add image of bedhead, bed

For some of our projects the clients have given us timber for repurposing to do our bit to save the planet piece by piece.

In one project Ross was given an old Rimu bed which he disassembled and created a beautiful tea trolley.  Insert image

In two other projects one client provided some swamp kauri.  Milling standing kauri in New Zealand is banned, but every now and then swamp kauri is found.  Kauri is a beautiful satiny wood that glows and is precious.  Ross dressed the timber then installed it as floating shelves.  Add image

The other project involved matai flooring, matai is a native timber to New Zealand and was mainly used in flooring in houses built in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s.  Again Ross dressed this timber and installed it as floating shelves. Add image
